This 20-yr-old man kidnaps father and collects N1M as ransom

In Ibadan, A young man has been arrested after he kidnapped his own father and collected N1 million as ransom.

The police in Oyo State have arrested a 20-year-old man,Ibrahim Babatunde who allegedly masterminded the kidnap of his own father and collected the sum of N1 million as ransom.

Babatunde was arrested alongside three of his accomplices,Babuga Salihu, 20, Aura Sanda, 20 and Amuda Yusufu, 19, after he had freed his father.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Odude, said the victim, Aliyu Babatunde, was abducted in Igboora and spent three days in the den of his abductors and was only released after the family paid the ransom, not knowing one of his sons was the brain behind the abduction.
CP Odude further said:
“The victim was eventually taken to an unknown place where he was kept for some days by his abductors who later demanded ransom as a condition for his release.
Initial arrest of one of the suspects by combined efforts of the local vigilante group, the police and further discreet investigation carried out by operatives of the Special Squad led to the subsequent arrest of the kingpin and other members of the gang at their various hideouts in the state.”
While confessing to the crime, the suspect said he hatched the plan of kidnapping his father because he failed to take care of his family despite the fact that he had the means to do so as he is a very rich man.
"My father married many wives and he doesn’t care for us. We are left to fend for ourselves. He does not take care of his family.
So, I think the only way to get money out of him was to organise his abduction and force him to part with the money. We collected N1 million as ransom from our family.”
While revealing how the crime was planned and executed, Babatunde said he invited his friends after he was sure that the plan would succeed.
