Catholic priest killed after he was kidnapped in Imo state


Cyriacus Onunkwo's body was found lying death in a bush during a manhunt on Saturday.

A Catholic priest, who was kidnapped in Imo State, has been killed by unknown gunmen, the state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, said on Sunday, September 3.

The victim, Cyriacus Onunkwo, was said to have been abducted from his vehicle in Orlu, a town in the state on Friday morning.

The police said they discovered Onunkwo's body in a bush in the town during a manhunt on Saturday.

The Commissioner said investigations are ongoing to round up Onunkwo’s killers.
The police said that the priest may have been strangled as no gunshot nor stab wounds were found on his body.

The report also said the assailants did not take anything from Onunkwo's car.
No arrest has been made as at the time of filing this report.
